Campaign of the Month: December 2014
Today I left home. Father has not been pleased with my decision to leave. He thinks it is too early for me to start business for the family on my own. He still does not suspect my involvement with the Dieben. I took the ship to Freiburg. In doing so, I was engaged by a young man identifying himself as a wizard. He called himself Spark and said he had come to the lands of the Freehold in order to learn more about the secrets of flight. Silly Glantrians. I suppose the Alphatians really aren’t that much better. So absorbed with their magicks and powers. I also met a dirty ranger from the outskirts. He had spent the last few years as a gladiator in Thyatis, and had purchased his freedom. What a life that must be! He is quiet, and hardened. I suppose one must be in order to fight before the crowds.
Once we disembarked, I spied some Order types in an alley harassing an old man. Four of them and him. Figures. So, I ran over and clubbed one of them in his thick skull. A brawl ensued, and a couple of them pinned me. Fortunately, the two from the ship had tagged along, so I wasn’t forced to stab any of them. Eventually, they wandered off without further incident. As they did, we were approached by a cleric in black robes calling himself Wolfram. He asked that, for a fee, we follow the meatheads and report where they go and what they do to him. I readily agreed. We did follow them, and tracked them to a warehouse. As it turns out, they were using it as a headquarters of sorts.
We waited til they left, and then began to case the warehouse. We found a letter, and some goblin prisoners. I had never seen a goblin before. Smaller than I expected, and twice as ugly. Anyway, as we were freeing the prisoners, the order types started to return. The goblins indicated that they knew a way out, but it was threw the sewer. Disgusting! On the way, we encountered some koblolds, also small and ugly. My bow practice came in handy. In trapsing threw that nasty place, came across a corpse being gnawed by rats. But then it got up. After that, a fight began. Afterwards, my companions told me that it had been raised by the power of unlife, a foul power. They called it a zombie. All I know is, it hit hard! I struck it with my bow, more than once, but when it hit me…I fell. I was awakened by my companions, who had finished it. We finally were able to depart from the sewers, and made our report to the Cleric. He asked us to continue spying for him. I nearly cackled. 500 gold pieces to rat out Order members? I’m in!
