…I stated my intent to travel to Glantri and enroll in the Great School of Magic. When asked Elias, Salhadin, Dante, Hakim, and Relhor agreed to join me on my journey. The remainder of the party headed back to Specularum and the Slither Wyr. Using teleportaion spells I moved the party to the outskirts of Glantri City over the next few days. During this time we stayed in a secure shelter created by my magic.
We entered Glantri City the Capital of the Principalites of Glantri on the 12th of Nuwmont. I was eager to head straight to the Great School of Magic, but upon entering the city, through the main tower gates, I was awe struck at the sheer magnitude of arcane magic in this place. Having come from a timeline where all arcane magic was aggressively rooted out and destroyed, this city was the polar opposite with magic being used in all aspects of Glantiran life. There were wizard towers everywhere, with several buildings glowing with arcane magics. Never before have I seen so much arcane magic in one place. I could feel the raw arcane power of this place in my very bones almost as if it radiated from the very ground I stood on. I knew then that Glantri would help me obtain levels of power that I might never have known in the world I had come from.
Standing in the middle of tower bridge plaza gazing at the city I noted that the city was built in and on top of water. There were very few actual streets, with most city travel being done on gondolas along the many waterways that crisscrossed the city. As we stood gawking we were approached by a gondola driver named Luigi who offered to give us a ride to our destination. Seeing that our party had the look of newcomers to the city he offered his services as a guide. I readily accepted as I did not know where to find the Great School of Magic. With Luigi’s expert assistance or education in Glantri City life began in earnest. A trip to the money changers found our pouches now filled with glantrian gold coins or ducats and large glantrian platinum coins or crowns that each glowed with arcane power each bearing the image of Prince Etienne de Amberville, Grand Master of the Great School of Magic and one of the 10 princes of Glantri. We next traveled to the House of Ministers (a large building with a tower on top that glowed slightly, made of a smooth stone, light blue in color) were we learned of the great glantrian bureaucracy including the many licenses needed to cast spells, wear armor, carry weapons, and even speak in public. All of it a tedious affair but necessary. It was here I learned wizards alone were allowed to be nobility in Glantri and just being a wizard gave me a higher social status than my fellow companions. I had to designate them as my retainers and vouch for them so they could get licenses to carry weapons and wear armor in the city.
After getting our licenses in order we traveled to the Great School of Magic where my referral scroll from Baron de Morlay gained me admittance and an audience with the Master of Admissions one Angun Forester. Before we were allowed to enroll Dante and I were tested in the arcane arts to determine our knowledge and capability. After a successful completion of our entrance tests Master Forester gave us a brief tour and explained to us the school was 140 years old and was at the center of magic, culture and politics in Glantri. Our tour was interrupted briefly by a young estranged woman in green robes who was admonishing a subdued man in brown robes that she would stop at nothing to get what she wanted. It seems that the competition between students runs hot here. At the conclusion of our tour I enrolled myself in Spell Combination, one of the advance courses taught at the school. Dante chose to enroll in Mandragora studies. With enrollment completed we chose to return to our party and further explore the city. We still needed to find a place to live while attending school. As Dante and I were leaving I was approached by a short man with oily brown hair, wearing glasses and a dark maroon robe that was dirty and stained. His name was Vorg and he wanted to pay me a sum of gold to obtain a copy of the four unique spells I owned in my spellbook and their required components. He struck me as an unsavory type, someone I should not trust, and I had a bad feeling about his proposal. One of the spells in question was my freezing shards spell, a spell of my own creation and one which had served me well. A wizards power is in his spells and this one was unique to me and I was not inclined to give it up so easily. I refused his offer, returning to my companions to begin our search for a place to live.
We asked our guide Luigi if he knew of a good place where we could find room and board. He asked if we were interested in purchasing a estate. He said he knew of one located inside the city walls in the older part of the city that was in disrepair but might make a fine estate if we had the coin to repair it. Seeing the value of having an estate within the city walls in such an arcane rich city I immediately accepted his offer to inquire about purchasing the property. I quickly acquired the necessary licenses to purchase and own property and awaited Luigi’s return with a purchasing price for the estate. As we waited I was approached by a extremely well dressed distinguished elf with long hair wearing a light black scale vest with a seal on it, and a black and white thin cloak. He had two other elves with him who were obviously his retainers and personal guards. He had noticed a wand that I carried and wanted to speak to me in private about it. He asked me to join him later at the Silver Tower Inn, a high end establishment catering to the nobility located in the nobles quarter of the city. Intrigued by his interest I accepted his invitation and was at the Silver Tower Inn at the appointed time. When we had sat down at our table he introduced himself at Sire Ezechiel Naramis, the Viscount of Nathrat. I was stunned I was speaking to one of the titled Wizard Nobles of Glantri! He was very interested in the copper wand with the baby black dragon hide hand I had found in Aganziscorr’s lair. We talked about where I had obtained the wand and about Agan. I expressed to him my interest in dragons as a field of study and he then made me an offer I could not believe or refuse. He revealed that he was a member of a secret craft, The Masters of Dragons, and he would induct me into that secret craft and pay me 100 crowns for the wand of Agan. I accepted and was told I must meet with him daily over the next week to be initiated and trained in the basics of Dracology.
I rejoined my companions after my meeting with Sire Naramis to find that Luigi had returned with good news. For a mere 84 crowns I could purchase a 50 foot walled three story estate with attic, basement and gondola landing attached to the city walls located in the west side quarter of town. As expected it was in disrepair and needed some work done to it prior to moving in. Repairs cost our party another 88 crowns and included tiling the roof in bronze tile, installing a water system gate, installing a fire elemental for heat, replacing the gondola landing, pumping out the basement, and general repairs and painting. Even with a total cost of 172 crowns to purchase and repair, the new Titus estate was well worth the expense. We moved in immediately and I took the attic over as my private sanctum. While Dante and I used the basement for our arcane laboratory.
By the time we moved into our new estate Dante and I had already begun our classes. We had been assigned to study under Lord Pramous, a very fit and very focuses man in his mid 30’s who was also a graduate, and current teacher of the School. Our assigned Master is a good mentor and instructor and I think highly of him. The first week of classes was long and tiring for me. Especially since I was also meeting with Sire Naramis after classes to receive my dracology training. After that first grueling week things settled down into a rutine of class work, studies and enchanting at night. Elias had asked me to enchant his sword and newly forged dragon armor and I felt I owed him that much for slaying Aganziscorr and coming with me to Glantri. I have never been happier than I am now learning and practicing so much of the arcane arts…△
